Yesterday, the Union of Concerned Scient

Yesterday, the Union of Concerned Scientists released their “National Landmarks at Risk” report detailing climate change impacts to nationally significant historic and archeological sites. SEAC is conducting research at three of the sites mentioned in the report: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, Turtle Mound in Canaveral National Seashore, and prehistoric shell-works sites in Everglades National Park. Each of these locations is suffering from climate change impacts, such as sea level rise and increased storm surges. SEAC has ongoing and upcoming projects to evaluate and mitigate the effects of climate change at these and other threatened archeological sites.
